Special Article: State of the Kirby Commune
Keep in mind this is not a regular, run-of-the-mill article, this is a special article for a special purpose, which is to inform people of the state of the "Kirby Commune" and Kirby's future.

As most of you guys (and gals) already know, Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble has been released. I've been waiting for this game for a while, and I finally got it, and I found myself challenged by the game, which quickly grew to frustration (I'm still not done with the game), and I ask myself: "What audience is HAL trying to go for with this game?" the game needs to be in perfect positioned light, and it must be so that it doesn't get in the gamer's eyes (which it has on many an occasion with me). I'm not saying Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble is a bad game, I'm just saying that this isn't as good as it could be, and is not "hard" in the sense in that it is "tricky." (think: "Banjo-Kazooie", now that was tricky, while the final boss of KDL2 was "hard") The game is good by gaming standards, it just isn't like most Kirby games.

The next topic is an odd one: Emulation. Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble Jap. Version's ROM was dumped, and an emulator had the controls to work the complicated ROM, resulting in this and other sites to be able to have advanced coverage of the game before it was released to the public in this side of the Pacific, and KTNT doesn't need the player to understand much of the text: I understood how to do complicated techniques by myself on the ROM (the ROM, by the way, is much easier to do then the game itself, which I had in my possession within the day of when I got the ROM), which brings this up: In the future, Kirby games might be on the Game Boy Advance, which is already getting emulated, so in the future, will it be necessary to even by the games themselves if it is more fun to play them on the computer, and also free? I'll let you decide.

I myself am tired of Kirby for the time being; the lack of other fan's interests, the "trickiness" of Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble, the fact that I have been running this site for two years and generally how my life is un-focused on video games and more on other stuff (mostly the evil of school) is adding to the subtraction of fun of running this site, but this has happened before, except that I have never really disliked a Kirby game as much as I do Tilt 'n' Tumble right now (I'm tired of playing that game because I repeatedly lose and shine my eyes, so that is just a little more then frustrating). I update this site nearly every day (or at least I try) and I'm not getting as many visitors as other sites that update with a 4-piece update every other week. I'm not naming any sites, because that would be rude, and I don't dislike their sites, it is just that I'm very frustrated. This doesn't mean the site won't update, it just means that the site will update probably with more stuff, and will update more with even more stuff if the amount of visitors picks up (hint, hint: tell your friends if you want another gazillion screenshots and content). I'm frustrated with the lack of user participation with Hyperzone; people have been saying: "I want the fan sections back" and now there isn't any update to that. I mean, hello, it is up now, go contribute "Not all the sections are up yet" well, who cares? Submit a part of the story to the ongoing story, fill out the new part of the poll! If you have a fan game in the works, e-mail the information! I know there is interaction right now; just not as much as expected, and maybe I just put my expectations too high, but I would like a pinch more interaction, thanks.

I'm most worried on what will happen now that there isn't a Kirby game to look forward to: sure, Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble will be covered in detail, but what about the next game? I know there will be a next game, but I don't want a drought of games like there was between that 3-year gap between Star Stacker and the Crystal Shards (sure, Super Star Stacker was released, but only in Japan, but we need another international release, and Kirby wasn't the center of Super Smash Bros. (although he was a great fighter in that game)), because if that happens, I think the commune will shrink until there isn't much people left (Earthbound fans, however, have a much bigger universe and games for them to go through, I mean, after all: Mother and Earthbound are both pretty big RPGs that can be picked apart over the years, and they have had an internet presence longer then us Kirby fans). All that I'm really saying is: Don't lose hope in HAL, they will give us another game, just be patient, that is, if there is a gap, for all we know, there might not be, it all depends if HAL shows any Kirby stuff at this year's E3.

On a side-note, I don't hire much staff because I like staff members working (and that is why Pink Puff Kirby is the only one on the staff right now), instead of updating every other month with a short thing the webmaster could do over the weekend. Staff members are there to help out, not to hinder. (unless they have a reason, such as running another large website, in that case, it is acceptable because they already have duties and responsibilities greater then that of the site that they are working on)

Running a Kirby site has been fun for the past two years, and I hope that I'll be running it for more then another two years, but I just needed to type this so people can realize what is going on. Thank you to all the people that are smart and realize what is going on, and if I get any criticism to this, it had better be constructive criticism, and not flames, because if it is flames, then I'm happy to test out my ability to delete e-mails.

Hoping the best for the future for all,
James (acting webmaster and tyrant of all)
